My Hollywood movie director friend, Billy McAdams asked me to use a couple of my originals for a movie he

just finished directing. It's called "Agua Caliente".Watch For It........I'm releasing a video from the vault.

In 1995 , I was gigging with Tombo Combo at The Voodoo Lounge in Santa Barbara California

One of the song performances and an interview recorded later at my Guitarman Studios was

   televised and I can't believe I found a copy !!!

I also found a recording of me gigging at the Nameless Coffee House in Cambridge Massachusetts

in the Fallof 1975. Ira Idelson on clarinet and John "Bones" Burrill on the rhythm bones.

John , Ira, and I had a street band while I attended classes at Berklee College.

The band was called "The Back Beat Boys From Back Bay" We were inducted into the Boston Museum

Thanks to the collaboration with KRCC, COPPeR,the Gazette,The Indepenent,Downtown Partnerships,

Pikes Peak Library District,and the Pikes Peak Center and KCME, The Showcase At Studio Bee

at Pikes Peak Center is back and in full swing.

The Music Series features some of the best in local musical talent, performing original music. All artists included

in The Showcase are homegrown talent from El Paso,Teller, Pueblo counties and have produced an album and

write their own music.

All Showcase at The Studio Bee performances start at 6 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM) and the best part is they

are free to the public !

Last nights edition included a performance by Spider Murphy on guitars and banjo accompanied by Mike Thompson

on bass and Isaac Thompson on drums. I'll have to admit I'm not sure how to categorize Murphy. His voice

sometimes growling, sometimes low and sweet, sitting back in the corner of the stage like he didn't want to be

recognized, he demonstrated crossover appeal to the blues/rock/country base of fans he's established. And

here's something. Murphy shows a decided sense of social conciousness by driving over a thousand miles

a week playing for folks at retirement and veteran homes across the state of Colorado when he's not performing on

stage. His banjo playing was very interesting as well; while showing that he could play the banjo in a bluegrass

picking style, he just as easily used it for strumming and soft little riffs which you don't associate with this instrument.

Have to admit it, I was impressed.

Songs included numbers from recording including "Hey Mudhead" (Yer Mom 'N' Nem) , The Cane Song",

"Snake Head Whiskey". and "Creole Rose".
